Vietnam unveils NDAChain, a hybrid blockchain and decentralized identity platform to secure citizen data, enhance digital trust, and protect transactions nationwide.

Vietnam has deployed NDAChain, a national blockchain platform engineered to transform digital identity verification and recordkeeping. The Ministry of Public Security and the National Data Association have designed NDAChain to underpin a more secure and scalable digital economy, placing digital identity at the heart of Vietnam’s modernization efforts.

Authorities revealed that NDAChain will support decentralized identity solutions, enabling secure digital contract signing and real-time counterparty verification. This project aims to solve persistent vulnerabilities of centralized data models—namely security gaps and limited scalability—by establishing a digital “layer of trust” across government, financial, healthcare, education, and logistics infrastructure.

“Hybrid Layer of Trust” Set to Reshape Data Security

Vietnam’s national blockchain runs as a layer-1 permissioned network. It incorporates 49 validator nodes managed by a mix of government and leading private-sector players, such as SunGroup, Zalo, Masan, MISA, Sovico, and VNVC. Each validator node operates under clear access controls, enabling the state to preserve oversight while distributing data validation and transaction monitoring responsibilities.

NDAChain leverages a Proof-of-Authority consensus, enhanced with zero-knowledge proof technology for heightened security and privacy. Smart contracts automate transaction workflows, and a dedicated identity verification module links directly to national ID systems.

Nguyen Huy, Head of Technology at the National Data Association, stated that NDAChain will act as a protective layer for the nation’s digital data. He emphasized its pivotal role: “This platform is absolutely fundamental for our emerging digital society and economy.” Huy also noted, “Vietnam opted for a hybrid, not purely decentralized, architecture, balancing trust and efficiency.”

NDA DID and NDAKey: Seconds-Fast Digital Verification

The NDAChain platform supports NDA DID, a decentralized identity engine. Its companion, the NDAKey application, enables Vietnamese citizens to verify digital identities almost instantly. The Ministry highlighted that NDAKey is tailored to combat impersonation, scams, and digital identity theft, giving people authority over their own digital credentials.

With NDA DID, individuals and businesses can confidently authenticate transaction parties before digital contract signing or accessing sensitive services. Integration with Vietnam’s national ID backbone increases the probability of rapid adoption across e-government, finance, and even online commerce spaces.

National Digital Transformation and Global Integration

NDAChain is positioned as the technological bedrock for Vietnam’s entire digital transformation. Its rollout is seen as crucial amid continuous data growth from a population exceeding 100 million. The National Data Association confirmed that, by late 2025, NDAChain will become a core component of the National Data Center, with further expansion to local government and academic systems scheduled for 2026.

The government expects NDAChain’s transparent digital traceability features will streamline regulatory compliance, economic transactions, and product authentication, while enabling interoperability with global data and identification standards.
