World co-founder Alex Blania took the stage at Money20/20 in Las Vegas and unveiled World ID for banking and finance, according to World’s own post dated October 18. Five design partners are named: Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake, Pantera Capital and VanEck Funds. WLD printed its three-day low on Binance that evening at $0.4565. On October 20 it touched $0.5961.

What World ID for banking actually includes

The announcement describes three pieces: the World ID app, World ID for Agents and World ID for Zoom. The app is listed as available in the App Store and Google Play across more than 150 countries. It offers three kinds of cryptographic proof. Proof of Human is claimed with a one-time Orb visit, Proof of Presence is a phone liveness check, and Proof of Attributes confirms something like age or nationality from a government credential and reveals only that detail.

World frames the product around deepfake fraud. Its post cites an engineering firm employee who wired about $25.6 million in early 2024 after a video call where every other participant was fake. The post also says Orbs are available at the NYSE.

How WLD moved around the announcement

The post carries only a date, so the exact minute it went live is unknown. What Binance’s hourly data shows is this. WLDUSDT fell to $0.4565 in the 20:00 UTC hour on October 18, then closed that evening at $0.4892 in the 23:00 hour. The first real volume came late on October 19. In the 22:00 UTC hour price went from $0.5169 to $0.5289 on $3.46 million of turnover, against $0.78 million an hour earlier.

October 20 brought the biggest hour. At 14:00 UTC WLD ran from $0.5576 to a high of $0.5858 on $11.05 million. The day’s high of $0.5961 came after that, and the pair sat near $0.5879 at 20:00 UTC. From the October 18 low to the October 20 high is about 30.6%. CoinGecko shows WLD up roughly 15% over 24 hours and 35% over 30 days.

Perpetuals did the heavy lifting

Binance’s WLDUSDT perpetual turned over $496.77 million on the UTC day of October 20. Spot turned over $90.36 million. Perpetuals carried roughly five and a half times the spot turnover. Open interest on the perpetual began the stretch at $91.5 million, measured at 15:00 UTC on October 19. It hit $129.4 million by 15:00 UTC on October 20 and read $125.3 million at 20:00 UTC.

The spot volume is spread across several exchanges. CoinGecko’s markets table lists $103.6 million on Binance’s WLD/USDT over 24 hours, $36.6 million on OKX, $25.9 million on Toobit, $22.4 million on Gate and $22.5 million on Bybit.

What the market cap says

CoinGecko ranks WLD 47th with a market cap near $2.25 billion and a fully diluted value near $5.89 billion. We last covered WLD on July 25, when the World treasury moved $81 million in WLD, in this report.

Levels after the rebound

WLD is inside its multi-week range, and Bitcoin, at $82,808, is above its 100-day average of $74,579. The bull case starts with a 1-hour close above $0.5959, the day’s high on Binance’s perpetual, and the next target is $0.6199, the October high. A 1-hour close back below $0.5887 voids that path. The bear case starts with a 1-hour close below $0.563, last week’s high, with $0.5474 and $0.5373 as targets. A 1-hour close back above $0.586 voids that one.

The post calls the five names “initial design partners utilizing the technology” and says the suite is now available. A named bank or asset manager going live would be the next dated fact for World ID for banking.
