Charles Hoskinson is not hedging. The IOG founder says Midnight.city will be the single most used crypto application on the planet by 2030.

Thousands of beta testers are about to come online. Not to browse. To break things, pressure-test the system, and help build what Hoskinson is calling a new civilization.

The Largest Focus Group Crypto Has Run

The scale of the incoming beta phase is what separates this from a standard product announcement. Hoskinson, posting on X, framed the wave of incoming testers as a feedback engine no product team in the space has operated before.

As Charles Hoskinson posted on X:

“I’m super excited about the next iteration of Midnight.city. We will have thousands of beta testers coming online soon and gather incredible feedback about how to improve and refine the experience and utility of the world. It’s the largest and most meaningful focus group ever done.”

Most crypto projects treat beta as a formality. A checkbox before mainnet. Midnight.city is treating it as core product infrastructure, with real user signal feeding directly into build cycles.

That feedback connects to a development cadence that is unusually aggressive. Two-week sprints drive the platform forward fast enough that major changes accumulate over months. Hoskinson put a specific shape on that timeline, saying within a few months the platform reaches a direction that most blockchains take decades to find.

Privacy Is the Foundation, Not the Selling Point

Midnight.city is not a wallet or an exchange. It is a persistent, agent-driven environment where users interact with a world running on privacy-native infrastructure. Transaction data is private by default. Specific information gets shared with authorized parties only when the user chooses. No exposure by default.

For a retail NIGHT holder or a developer building on Cardano’s ecosystem, the sprint model carries real weight. A product that updates every 14 days means what a user touches in July is materially different from what they tested in May.

That cadence is the mechanism Hoskinson is betting on.

What the 2030 Prediction Actually Requires

Hoskinson has made large calls before. This one has a specific target attached.

As Charles Hoskinson posted on X:

“Combined with two week sprints, within a few months we’ll be well on our way to a new civilization. One that’s crypto native, has privacy at the core, and evolves in weeks instead of decades. I predict Midnight.city will be the most used crypto application by 2030.”

That prediction means Midnight.city surpassing applications with user bases already in the tens of millions. Wallets, DEX frontends, and exchange apps all sit well above any numbers Midnight.city currently holds.

The beta phase is where the gap either closes or stays wide. Thousands of testers generating real feedback, fed into two-week build cycles, is the engine Hoskinson is relying on.

Whether that sprint cadence holds under the pressure of scale is the question the beta phase will answer. If the feedback loop breaks down or cycles slow, the 2030 timeline compresses fast.

The bet is placed. The testers are incoming. Two weeks at a time.
