At 09:00 UTC on Saturday, DASH traded about $318,000 on Binance in the hour. The next hour it traded $4.05 million.
Price went from $63.20 to a high of $73.34 by mid-afternoon, and CoinGecko has the coin up about 12% over 24 hours at $70.93. Nothing I could find explains the timing.
A Move With No Headline
Dash’s own news feed shows nothing newer than August 4, the day it said shielded transactions went live on its Evolution mainnet. That post calls it “the most significant privacy overhaul in our 12+ years.” It is now 53 days old.

The post describes Orchard-style zero-knowledge privacy taken from Zcash, roughly one-second settlement and a wallet sync of about 20 seconds. It gives no fees and no adoption numbers. My searches turned up no published total for how much DASH sits in the shielded pool, so the size of that story is unknown.
The Privacy Peers Sat Still
A privacy-sector rally would show up in the neighbors. It did not. CoinGecko’s privacy table at capture had Zcash up 1.0% and Monero down 1.7%, against Dash’s 12%.

Bitcoin is no better an explanation. Over the last 30 days the daily returns of DASH and BTC correlate at only about 0.27.
Knocking on September’s Ceiling
On the hourly chart, DASH sat in a $62 to $65.70 box from September 22 to Saturday morning. The 10:00 UTC candle blew through the top of it.

The daily picture is less friendly. Saturday’s high of $73.34 stopped just under the September 5 high of $73.80, and the September 6 spike reached $78.68 before the coin slid to $49.66 by September 15, a 37% drop. Price has now more than doubled from the $29.62 low of August 19.
Momentum is not stretched, at least. Daily RSI computed from Binance closes reads about 65.6, and price sits above its 20-, 50- and 200-day averages at $59.20, $47.28 and $39.12.

Longs Are Paying to Stay In
The futures market joined the move. Coinalyze puts perpetual open interest at $68.3 million, up 25.36% in a day, or about 7.5% of the $912 million market cap.

Funding is where venues disagree. Binance and Bybit sit at the flat +0.0100%, but Coinbase reads +0.0824% per eight hours, Hyperliquid +0.0544%, Deribit +0.0311% and Kraken +0.0308%. Traders on those venues are paying a premium to be long.

Volume Lives on Smaller Venues
Binance is the largest single spot venue with 14.83% of reported volume, per CoinGecko’s Markets tab. Behind it come XT.COM at 9.68%, Azbit at 5.21% and WhiteBIT at 5.10%, all ahead of OKX at 2.21%. Total 24-hour volume is $262.9 million.

Supply adds a footnote. CoinGecko lists 12.844 million DASH circulating against a max supply of 18.92 million, so about 68% of the cap exists.

Dash’s August post promised shielded token functionality “in the near future,” with no date attached. I found no dated event ahead. Until one shows up, the September 5 to 6 highs are the test that matters.
