At 14:30 UTC on September 25, the Aero account on X promised “some big details dropping today, including when Aero will launch (and where).” AERO was already changing hands near $0.80 on Binance. It had opened the day at $0.695.

The date itself came at 16:45 UTC. Aerodrome’s merged successor said in a launch update that it goes live October 21, 2026, on seven chains.

Most of the Run Came First

Binance’s one-minute candles say the price was $0.8214 at 16:45, roughly 18% above the day’s open. Ten minutes later the one-minute high read $0.8467. So the announcement itself added about 3%, and the rest was people buying a rumor they could feel coming.

The day’s high printed at $0.8672. By evening AERO sat near $0.84, up about 22% over 24 hours by CoinGecko’s count, which put the rank-87 token on that site’s trending list.

What the Post Actually Promised

Base, Ethereum Mainnet, OP Mainnet, Arc and Ink were already on the list. Robinhood Chain and Arbitrum are new. Aero says the chains Aerodrome and Velodrome serve today handle about 17% of EVM spot volume, and that this launch “is set to roughly triple that.”

That is a projection from the team, not a measurement. The post also says the public audit contest is done and final fixes are being merged.

Fees Are Growing, Earnings Are Still Red

DeFiLlama’s combined Aerodrome page shows $17.78 million in fees over 30 days, $14.33 million of it revenue, and $383.58 million in TVL. Fine so far.

Then the incentives line. Aerodrome paid out $107.57 million in token rewards across the past year, and the dashboard’s annualized earnings figure sits at negative $13.53 million. The windows differ, so the numbers don’t subtract cleanly, but the headline earnings line is red.

A pump on a token whose emissions still outrun its earnings needs a story about that gap. Aero’s post offers one. Its “AER Engine” is meant to cap the reward rate per pool so it tracks projected revenue. Nobody has seen that engine run with real money yet.

No Crowd Visible on Binance Perps

Funding on Binance’s AERO perpetual printed 0.005% at every one of its last twelve settlements, the baseline rate, which means longs were not paying up to stay in. Binance open interest was $26.4 million on September 25 versus $25.2 million the day before and $18.2 million on September 16, per Binance’s futures data endpoints.

Coinglass tells a wider story. All-exchange open interest stood at $143.64 million, and 24-hour futures volume of $183.94 million dwarfed spot volume of $47.98 million. Perps trade nearly four times the spot turnover.

The Chart Looks Stretched, Not Broken

On the 2-hour chart, RSI reached 79.5 at the top of the move. The daily RSI, which I computed from Binance closes, is near 72. Price sits roughly 37% above its 20-day average of $0.617.

The last time hype carried it here, it didn’t hold. AERO topped at $0.676 on September 8, the day ETHNews tied a 20% jump to Tenor OTC accepting AERO as collateral and tokenized-stock volume on Base. Then came the slide: $0.5176 by September 16, which is 23% lower in eight days. The new high is 28% above that peak. ETHNews had named $0.85 as the next resistance, and the price now sits on it. Bitcoin barely moved on the day, and most large DEX tokens on CoinGecko’s category page moved by low single digits, so this was AERO’s own story.

October 21 Is the Real Test

Aero says a launch-week timeline, guidance for LPs and veNFT holders, and more detail on the economic system will follow in the weeks before launch. That last item matters most for the earnings question above. If the reward-cap design reads as credible, the negative earnings line has an answer. If it reads vague, the September 8 pattern is the template.

Binance listed AERO on July 17 with a Seed Tag, and it has traded between about $0.39 and $0.87 since. The launch date is the first hard deadline on that run.
