Seven perp-only tokens on Binance, meaning perpetual contracts with no Binance spot market behind them, traded $1.89 billion on October 21, up from $22.5 million on October 19. DOOD, the Doodles token, did $1.09 billion of that and ran 270% before it gave back more than half.
The seven are DOOD, JCT, IRYS, BIRB, BULLA, MAGMA and MEW. Binance’s spot exchange info, pulled at 16:20 UTC on October 22, lists none of them as a trading asset.
Perp-only tokens give Binance traders a contract and nothing else. There is no spot order book on the exchange to buy and hold the coin. Every position is a leveraged contract settled in USDT, and funding payments pass between long and short holders every few hours.
Seven perp-only tokens, no spot market
October 20 had its own spike. The group traded $844.4 million that day, and JCT alone did $636.9M of it. October 21 belonged to DOOD at $1.092 billion, with JCT down to $379.6 million, IRYS at $147.1M, BIRB at 90 million dollars, BULLA at $68.2M, MEW at $59.4M and MAGMA at $54.1 million.
Open interest grew along with it. DOOD’s went from $2.36 million to a $24 million peak, JCT’s from $6.74M to $29.7M, and MAGMA’s from $3.93M to $20M. Those are Binance’s own 4-hour history figures.
Prices across the perp-only tokens ran too. Measured from the October 19 close to the high since, DOOD gained 270%, JCT 164%, MAGMA 118%, IRYS 91%, BULLA 77%, BIRB 43% and MEW 31%. By about 16:25 UTC on October 22 those gains had shrunk to 61%, 134%, 89%, 70%, 17%, 13% and 14%.

DOOD, the largest of the perp-only tokens
The DOOD perpetual closed October 19 at $0.001341 and printed $0.004956 at 13:00 UTC on October 21. In that same hour, at 13:24 UTC, CoinGecko posted that DOOD was up 205% on the day “without any project news,” with the NFT floor up 6%.

Then came the fall. From a 13:00 UTC close of $0.004767 the perpetual slid to $0.002301 by the 16:00 UTC close, a 51.7% drop in three hours. The 15:00 hour alone carried $176 million.
Binance and Upbit moved together
DOOD does have a spot market, just not on Binance. Upbit’s won market turned over 219.3 billion won on October 21 against 0.1 billion on October 19. Converted at Upbit’s own won-per-USDT rate, its price stayed within about 2% of the perpetual in most hours.
Not 12:00 to 14:00 UTC on October 21. There the perpetual priced 5.8% to 6.4% above Upbit. After that Upbit fell from 5.99 won to 3.07 won in the same three hours, down 48.7%.
Open interest above market cap
Coinglass shows DOOD’s open interest across exchanges at $27.32 million against a market cap of $16.97 million. Futures volume over 24 hours was $516.85M, spot $87.73M. Funding on the Binance perpetual settled at -2.00% at 16:00 UTC on October 21, in the middle of the fall, which means short holders were paying long holders. Futures running far ahead of spot was also the finding in our AVA report.

The same hours as IOST
DOOD’s volume jumped at 09:00 UTC on October 20. BMT and IOST followed in the 10:00 UTC hour, and JCT had already started at 03:00. IOST is the one Binance does list on spot, and our IOST report traces its own Upbit notice. DOOD, IRYS and IOST all hit their busiest hour between 15:00 and 17:00 UTC on October 21.
Of the nine perpetuals checked here, seven are perp-only tokens. IOST and BMT, the other two, have Binance spot markets. No announcement ties the group together. CoinGecko’s “no project news” line on DOOD is the only sourced statement on any of them, so the trigger is unexplained.
Levels for DOOD, a perp-only token
Bitcoin, at $81,574, is above its 100-day average of $74,963. DOOD is inside its range. At 16:00 UTC on October 22 funding was sitting at -0.014% and 67.4% of accounts were long. Both can flip within hours.
Levels come from Binance perpetual candles. The bull case starts with a 4-hour close above $0.002379, the September high, aiming at $0.002596 and then $0.004956. A 4-hour close back under $0.00208 voids it. The bear case starts with a 4-hour close below $0.002046, aiming at $0.001842 and $0.001721. A 4-hour close back over $0.00208 voids that path.
The evidence is balanced. The perpetual has already given back 56% of its high, and it still sits 62% above its October 19 close. This is market reporting and not investment advice.
